A False Floor

Lock text: These treasures were important enough to be protected from mundane thieves and looters. We will need to find a way to enter without setting off the trap, or disarm it.
Start text: The pitfall trap; simple and elegant to make, while still being the bane of innocent adventurers looking for new finds. Knock will allow us to pass through without triggering the mechanism, or Forge allow us to disarm the trap before us.

Expeditions

  • Monastery of the Enlighteners
  • Tehrye

Requirements

  • Knock (Invokes the Bright-Delver)
  • Forge (Invokes the Harvester)

Knock Invocation

We call upon the the Bright-Delver

  • Knock 10: We call upon the the Foremost of Snakes, who is never deterred. Not only do we bear a great power of entry, but we bear the tools of the world as well. With this and our own power, we will pass.
  • Knock 5: We call upon the the Foremost of Snakes, who seeks always the Glory. Our goal is more worldly than occult, but we have brought more than toys with us. We will probably pass unharmed.
  • Knock 1: We call upon the the Foremost of Snakes, who takes no steps. We've brought ropes, and picks, and other such tools of the trade. We might make it across.
  • Knock Success: We cannot be denied. Each step would be fraught with danger to a normal trespasser, but to us it is as easy as a walk in the park. The trap lies behind us, now.
  • Knock Failure: A painful thud. The mysteries of entry are not those of flight, unfortunately. We should have brought a ladder with us.

Forge Invocation

We call upon the Harvester

  • Forge 10: We call upon the Mad-Machine, who breached Kowloon. If we cannot pass this pit, we shall reduce it to rubble and walk upon that. We will make it through.
  • Forge 5: We call upon the Mad-Machine, who devours the great. This trap was formed by a master of their trade, and designed to be impassible. We brought dynamite with us. We'll probably pass.
  • Forge 1: We call upon the Mad-Machine, who is never completed. We come with picks, and hammers, and many such tools of destruction. We might bring this pit low.
  • Forge Success: A pleasing explosion. Architecture may be an art, but so is destruction. The dust has cleared, and we've removed the trap. We continue onwards.
  • Forge Failure: A terrifying rumble. Was there a false floor beneath the pit as well? Despite our efforts, we seem to have only made it deeper. We'll have to try again.
