The Fang of Ages is the Hour of Evolution and Survival of the Fittest. She was always here, creating new beings in The Cradle of Life.

Description

The Fang of Ages is the Wild Goddess of Creation and Evolution. She is one of the eldest Hours, and even among the Wild Gods is known for her penchant for violence and animal cunning. She is greatly dissatisfied with the direction the Wake has taken in her absence. The worlds of man, ruled not by strength or cunning, but wealth, politicking, and deceit

History

Appearance

The Fang of Ages' creations can be found practically everywhere in both The Frontier and in the Wake, but she herself is rarely seen. Reports of her appearance are widely inconsistent, both because her burning countenance can only be safely viewed at a distance by mortals, and because she herself is constantly shifting and modifying herself in her constant search of improvement. The most consistent reports describe her as a massive saurian creature, easily spotted miles away, awash in shimmering heat and knife-like spikes.

Principles

She embodies the Forge principle's aspect of Improvement and Innovation. She mainly concerns herself with the creation and shaping of life, each new creation sporting adaptions developed from analyzing data gleaned from previous generations. In order to test her creations' strengths, she often bids them to set themselves against each other. As a result, while she has created many forms of life with their own unique adaptions, her most iconic creations are those cast in her own image, saurian titans of claw and fang that brutally fight to the death in the Cradle.

While she is a Hour of great power and ferocity, she is not completely without heart. She possesses as code of honor, and takes great offense to actions that go against it. Engaging in one-sided fights and underhanded methods are certain methods to provoke her wrath. If the fight is not between equals, how is she meant to determine who is superior?

While known widely for her wrath, to her creations and those close to her she is known as a generous and caring patron. She takes great pride in each of her creations, often gifting those who prove themselves worthy with further improvements. However, it is an example of her alien mindset that she will not grow upset if even her most adored champions are slain, so long as it is to a "worthy" foe. For her, only survival of the absolute fittest makes total sense.

Worship

Like other Wild Gods, cults of the Fang of Ages are not widely welcome in the Histories and Realms, and tend to form on the fringes of society. She draws worshipers from both experienced and aspiring warriors that seek strength and wisdom in battle. Often these sorts make pilgrimages to sites touched by her presence, either to expose themselves to her essence to face off against beasts improved by her touch.

She also draws worship from the most desperate and downtrodden. Whether out of shared desire to bring about a new world where they can start again out of the destruction of the old one, or a simple for power, these groups are among the most dangerous Wild God cults. They will perform rituals in the hopes of summoning Forge-beasts made for war into the world, among them the dreaded Fanged Heralds, but even those are but one species of beasts among the hundreds she controls.
