Mortals have many reasons to interfere with matters of the invisible arts. An old grudge, a sense of duty, a mercenary contract... But mortals are flimsy protection. A veritable cornucopia of choices is available to the true adept. These we could trick with Moth, seduce with Grail, or battle with Edge.

Expeditions

  • Temple of the Deep

Requirements

  • Moth (No invocation)
  • Grail (No invocation)
  • Edge (No invocation)

Moth Invocation

A deception

  • Moth 10: A certain deception. 'Well, if you look over here, you'll see what we mean. Now, if you would close your eyes...'
  • Moth 5: A likely deception. 'We've been sent to resupply your encampment. If you would be so kind as to let us in?'
  • Moth 1: A desperate deception. 'Quick! Look behind you!'
  • Moth Success: A mortal's confusion. They're far too distracted to realize we even exist. By the time they get themselves together, we'll be long gone.
  • Moth Failure: Too dumb to fool. It is said that the best swordsman fears the worst swordsman, because she has no idea what that idiot will do. In this case, that idiot stabbed someone. Retreat!

Grail Invocation

The Peacock's desires

  • Grail 10: Iago's seductions. The most alluring words are ripe with power. These uninitiated pawns cannot hope to resist them. They certainly won't resist us.
  • Grail 5: The Lady in Red's temptations. We should be able to beguile them. Even mortals enjoy the finer things in life, after all.
  • Grail 1: The Young Man's distractions. The uninitiated are pleasingly malleable, with the proper techniques. Perhaps ours will divert them from their purpose.
  • Grail Success: A mortal's downfall. We barely contributed to their undoing. All we did was provide the opportunity. We can pass, while they ruin themselves.
  • Grail Failure: Obnoxiously temperate. Is there no one here who wants for anything? They're more than suspicious of us, now. Time to leave.

Edge Invocation

Our strength.

  • Edge 10: Our strength is matchless. Mortals are as fleeting as dust and fragile as porcelain. These won't survive us.
  • Edge 5: Our strength is considerable. Those not versed in the invisible arts often suspect all occultists to be as frail as those revering the Aged Bones. We'll surprise them with our mettle, and probably bring them down.
  • Edge 1: Our strength may not be enough. There's many more of them than there are of us. And yet, we may still have a chance.
  • Edge Success: A mortal's end. Death is yet another form of art. Today, these people were our canvas. We move on.
  • Edge Failure: The clash of steel. Like a hive of avenging wasps, they simply don't stop coming. We have to retreat!
